HQ — The Best Sirloin Steak!

On Friday Night I visited an Awesome Restaurant named Headquarters (HQ) in Sandton. The most interesting thing about the restaurant is that it offers a single, straightforward menu: Salad, Sirloin & Chips ...

It opened in Cape Town in December 2008 and Sandton in February 2011, Headquarters is loosely based on the famous Parisian restaurant, Le Relais de L’Entrecote, in its homage to meat. 

The Menu is simply stamped onto the Brown Paper Table Cloth and you can leave your details to receive info on what's happening at HQ.

The Salad Starter:

A delicious, classic composition of cos and iceberg lettuce, topped with toasted pine nuts and parmesan shavings, drizzled with a divine mustard vinaigrette dressing. This is the perfect combination to prepare your palate for the succulent sirloin and crispy fries which follow.

The Sirloin and Chips:

The free range sirloin, sourced from Namibia and Botswana, is perfectly grilled to your taste and lightly covered with their signature Café de Paris butter created from 18 ingredients.

And what better side to a sirloin steak than some delicious double fried French Fries,  which are delightfully crispy and perfectly salted.

Once you order how you want your steak grilled the waiter marks your tablecloth with your choice, I prefer my meat Medium Rare, so I got "MR" on my side of the tablecloth

For all those Vegetarians out there, HQ even has a vegetarian option consisting of Halloumi and Mediterranean Vegetable Skewers with a Basil Infused Vinagrette. The Vegetarian Option also starts with the HQ salad and is also accompanied by crispy chips. (I haven't tried this yet, but on my next visit I'll give you feedback on this dish)

This single-minded restaurant is genuinely a breath of fresh air when compared to the numerous restaurants that offer a variety of items on their menus. The best part is, that as they specialise in only one dish, you can be certain that it will be the BEST SIRLOIN STEAK  AND FRIES YOU WILL EVER EAT!

H&M's Secret Garden

H&M’s Spring 2013 Conscious Campaign lensed by Camilla Akrans and starring French model and musician Vanessa Paradis is filled with enchantment! ... 

The 40-year-old former flame of Johnny Depp is the first celebrity face to front the campaign for the Swedish giant's environmentally-aware line of clothing. 

The new collection will feature sustainable materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester and Tencel; and will hit stores this March 2013.

To coincide with the new campaign announcement, H&M is launching a Conscious garment collection initiative, enabling customers to bring unwanted clothing (from any brand) into any H&M store in the UK and Ireland for recycling! Shoppers will receive an H&M voucher in exchange for each bag - with a maximum of two bags per customer, per day. The move marks the first time that any high street store has promoted and rewarded recycling to such a scale, with the aim of preventing unwanted clothing from ending up in landfill sites.

Well, now I'll need to wait until the new collection hits stores in March to get the same look.

'Tapper-ific' Tap Dogs

Last week Thursday I went to watch Tap Dogs at the Teatro at Montecasino and what starts out to be a 'normal' Tap Dancing Show turned out to be one of the most incredible and mind-blowing productions I had ever seen in my life! ...

The skills that the 6 Dancers display on stage is totally OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD and the synchronisation between them is so ridiculous you wonder wether the dancer's are human or machine's programmed to do moves at specific moments.

The use of the stage and the props were absolutely unique and the stage-transformations were all incorporated into the routine smoothly.

One of my (many) favourite moments in the show ♥

Without giving too much away, all I can is that this is definitely a show you don't want to miss out on! And Gents, don't think it's only for the ladies ... the show is rather 'macho', and can be easily enjoyed by anyone.

Some Facts about the Tap Dogs

Some History:

• Now more than 18 years since its conception, Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs is still taking the world by storm.  
• Australian-born creator and choreographer, Dein Perry, has come a long way from the garage behind his dance teacher’s house in Newcastle where, as a young boy, he and the “Dogs” learnt how to tap.
