High Society

Soiree season is fun and ladylike in High Society, the pretty spring party collection from Forever New...

This candy-hued story is a sweet selection of feminine and refined looks perfectly suited for afternoon High-Tea, a day out or a spring party.

A playful mood reminiscent of a retro-era Palm Springs shows 1950’s & 1960’s silhouettes with modern updates. Sorbet pink, spring lilac and powder blue form a fun and fresh colour palette worked into feminine prints and textures.

Florals bloom in sweetly coloured silks and are seen in spliced digital patterns for new season interest. Statement neckpiece style adornment is a key trend in party wear, decorating classic shift dresses in sugary colours. Shell tops, skirts and sundresses in powder hues are textured with crochet, broderie anglais and lace overlays. Tailored separates complete the feminine look, with full skirts and formal tailored shorts to pair with pastel knits and sleeveless crochet tops.

Chic finishing touches complete this girly collection, with pastel stone jewels and feminine strappy heels to give outfits a new season update. Handbags continue to be covetable in modern shaped totes with new hardware perfect for day, while jewelled and pearl embellished clutches are set to complete race day and spring party looks.

Monday Motivations ♥

Katy Perry for W Magazine

Singer Katy Perry is the November cover star of W Magazine, appearing sultry on 2 covers. Mario Sorrenti shot the “Roar” star in a series of retro-inspired images styled by Edward Enninful ...

Wearing the designs of Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs amongst others; Katy wows in the sexy spread.

Inside the magazine, Katy opens up about her first hit “I Kissed a Girl” saying, “It was a bit radical to sing about bisexuality, but it was a topic that was on the tip of everybody’s tongue. And even though it was ‘I kissed a girl, and I liked it, and that’s what I like to do sometimes,’ I sang it with a wink.

Prêt-à-Popsicle

How 'cool' is this collaboration between Designer, Lara Aktinson and a high fashion department store in the U.A.E. inspired by the most iconic S/S 13 Fashion Collections and the Summer Popsicle fad ...

Beyond dressing up the edible parts of the Fashion Pops, Atkinson includes detailing on the wooden popsicle sticks and wrappers. Just like an Amazing Designer Outfit, these small details make the whole look. This fun concept merges the eye-catching Designer Creations with mouth-watering Popsicle Flavours — which is definitely a more affordable way to enjoy the latest runway fashions.

These awesome popsicles were available at various pop-up shops and popsicle vans parked in popular spots.

I absolutely love how this editorial gives a kick of coquettish cool and a swish of New Look elegance to my favourite era!

Elegantly Audacious Glasses by Dior ♥

Dior’s new audacieuse glasses — Resolutely feminine, and equally futuristic. Their striking design, which reinvents the butterfly form in a glamorous, contemporary style, makes them an accessory quite unlike any other ... I definitely think it may be time for me to update my spectacles (the frames on the right are beautiful!)

Bierfest

South Africa's biggest beer festival just got bigger! Last night was the opening night of the Bierfest at Montecasino, which is housed in a 4'000 seater Bavarian Brauhaus adorned with authentic décor from the Motherland...

A bevy of feisty frauleins deliver fistfuls of frothing bier and mouth watering Bavarian food to you and your friends at your own wooden bier bench.

The Oompa Band performing on Stage inside the Bavarian Brauhaus
The tubthumping tuba courtesy of the Oompah band will blow your blues away as you step up to test your strength and skill against an array of traditional Oktoberfest challenges!

Royal Bavaria Beer (Left) and Flying Fish Beer (Right)

Not being an avid Beer drinker, the festivities that occur around this jamboree are incredible and missing it would just be a sin. Besides, for those of you who don't drink Beer there is a selection of Wines, Ciders and Soft drinks that should keep you going through the night. I settled for a Beer called the Flying Fish which was flavoured with Lemon (Really Delicious, for all those ladies who don't quite fancy beer).

Greg and I at the Bierfest enjoying some Beer
There are loads of competitions on offer during the festival including of course the best dressed King Ludwig and Princess Therese. Also, one should also be ready for the official sport of Bierfest: Beer Pong.

Convinced? Limited seating available so Book your tickets here!

Please note:
All purchases at Bierfest are made using "crowns". Crowns are available in denominations of R25 and purchased in packs of 5 (value R125). Crowns are NON-REFUNDABLE
